FBF is not only basketball. It is a project that uses sport as a tool for community growth and social impact. On this page we share two initiatives that truly represent us: Canestro Rosso and Schiaccia le Differenze.
Canestro Rosso – against violence against women
Canestro Rosso is FBF’s annual event against violence against women. It takes place at PalaEmidea and involves schools, families, institutions, and local sports groups. In the latest editions, the event welcomed more than 2,000 people, becoming one of the most attended awareness events in Puglia.
he format is a two-day program that combines:
- talks and open discussions,
- meetings with students,
- sports activities.
This is not only a symbolic event: the proceeds are donated to the local anti-violence center, turning community energy into real support.
This initiative shows that sport can be a public voice against injustice. It creates listening, awareness, and prevention. It also proves that youth basketball, when organised seriously, can help the cultural growth of a whole area.
Schiaccia le Differenze – basketball that includes everyone
Schiaccia le Differenze is an inclusive FBF project active for more than 6 years. It turns the gym into a place of inclusion and joy. t is dedicated to young people with cognitive disabilities. With the support of FBF coaches and volunteers, they take part in training sessions designed to build:
- relationships and social connection,
- confidence in movement,
- real fun.
This is not a one-time activity. It is a continuous path that has created a real playing community over time.
The boys also take part in exhibition games during official FBF events and special days, in front of a big audience. This breaks barriers, builds empathy, and sends a clear message: sport is for everyone.
The vision is close to international experiences like Baskin (inclusive basketball), but with a strong local identity: it is rooted in our town and in our arena. In this way, FBF shows that growth is not only technical or athletic, but also human and social.
Sport as a tool
With Canestro Rosso and Schiaccia le Differenze, FBF shows that basketball is more than a game. It is an educational and social tool that brings people together, builds awareness, and creates values. Two different projects, one single vision: to help athletes and people bring the same responsibility to the court and to life.
