Health on the court, every day
Basket Lab is the FBF project focused on injury prevention, recovery, and performance. It was created through daily teamwork between the FBF staff and the Kinesia physiotherapy center, with one clear goal: reduce risks, speed up return to competition, and improve the quality of play for our athletes.
The idea: prevent before you treat
The project involves the entire FBF youth program. We run detailed functional screenings to:
- find risk factors early,
- create a personal movement profile for each athlete,
- build custom training protocols (technical + physical work).
The model is simple: measure → understand → act → measure again, to check progress over time.
How we work:
a four-step method
Initial assessment
We collect objective data about foot support and weight distribution, posture control, mobility, strength, jumping patterns and reactivity.
Report + sharing
Results are summarised in a report and discussed with the athlete, coaching staff, and family. From there, we set clear and measurable goals.
Targeted action
We combine proprioception training (balance and body control), functional exercises integrated with on-court work, physical and manual therapy when needed.
Return to play
Progressive protocols (training loads, sport-specific movements, pain control) lead to full return on court, with a final check at the end.
Technology: TecnoBody & more
Walker View Performance 3.0 (TecnoBody). A treadmill with sensors and a 3D camera. It reads, in real time foot strike, load distribution, dynamic posture.
At the end, it produces digital Gait / Run Analysis reports, useful for technical corrections and for preventing overload injuries.
ProKin 212N: a balance and proprioception platform. It measures balance control, joint perception (how well the body “feels” position and movement), with dedicated software for testing and training.
IsoLift: a stabilometric platform with load cells for weight distribution analysis, jump tests (explosive force, contact time, stiffness), posture tests (for example, Romberg test).
It also includes modules for squat work and sport-specific movements.
The report
A biomechanical report summarises a functional evaluation of the body in static and dynamic conditions. Using posture and movement analysis tools (for example: posture observation, squat tests, walking and running analysis, balance/proprioception tests, and joint mobility tests), it collects measurements, images, and graphs to identify load asymmetries, mobility limits, posture compensations, motor control issues.
The report ends with an overall interpretation and clear practical recommendations (exercises and progressions) to improve stability, coordination, strength, and movement quality. It also suggests monitoring over time to track changes.
These tools also allow gait/run analysis with real-time feedback, virtual environments, and training paths that turn testing into real improvement.
Techniques and tools
Clinical work combines instrument-based physiotherapy and manual therapy, based on medical diagnosis and updated scientific evidence.
This is supported by:
- posture training programs (also specific for the foot and lower limb),
- movement education, to reduce the risk of recurring injuries.
The shared logic is always the same: understand the problem, build autonomy in self-care, and improve habits that support sport performance.
What the athlete (and the family) gets
- Fewer injuries: early detection of risk factors and quick action.
- Faster and safer return: progressive protocols with objective criteria.
- Better performance: improved movement patterns that affect technique, speed, jumping, and endurance.
- Transparency: clear data and reports, shared with the athlete and the family.
An FBF project
Basket Lab is part of our technical system. Data goes back to the gym and becomes practical guidance for coaches and strength staff.
It is not an “external showcase service”. It is an internal engine that works every week with one goal: help our athletes grow in the right way, with fewer stops and higher quality on the court.
